End of an Era

This Entry might be out of sink with the rest, but I wanted to say something to mark this occasion. The time has finally come round the corner, and we leave our new home called Wanaka and get back on the road.
We leave tomorrow morning in the van to reach our destination of Mount Cook. But that will be for another entry, firstly i would like to say how much i have enjoyed living here. We have had so many wicked times here, and met so many people that we have fallen in love with. Both Kiwis and travellers.
We have now been here for 4 and a half months, and small town living has become our lives. Ive really enjoyed seeing familiar faces everyday and chatting to people in the streets. If you have been here most of the season + then you proberly no everyone who lives here. This is the main reason why there has been so many great parties and nights out to the pubs, and then onto the place where most people end up, Red Rock for drinks and tunes.
Well what have we been up to recently. We have done a few bits and bobs, Last weekend there was a free party about a 15 min drive from wanaka in the middle of nowhere. We had to drive our van onto this land owned by some electrical company. Then we walked down into this valley next to the biggest river (in volume apparently) in New Zealand. The guys that set up this party has been organising stuff all season like this. You dont no where the party will be until the day it happens, when you are suppose to ring the number on the flyer they give out.
This one was to celebrate the full moon, so the sky was just amazing that night. They had set up little canopies and a chia tent, and there was a little fire to stand next to. This is where mostly everyone was as that night was frickin frreeeezzzzing!!! I had two coats on and a jumper!
There was about 100 people there so it was nice and friendly, which by the end of the night (or late in the morning!) ended up with a lovely group of people just all round the campfire chatting away.
Once me jamie eventually got to bed around 10 am we just walked back up to this field where our van was with lots of other peoples vans. And just crashed in bed without driving back home as ....hmmmmm the van IS our home. I love that so much. Easy living!
By the time we woke up it had already got to nine o clock at night and i looked out the window and the only vans left was ours and a friend of ours called Dave from the campsite.

Also something you guys back home will find funny is that I have been working on Jamies work site as a labourer. The plan for me for the last couple of weeks before we got on the road again was to quit work and be doing vinyard work. The last day at Good Sports I found out that the work had been cancelled due to the fact that it was still too cold for the next stage of growth. So I was stumped. It totally through me out, as we really needed me to be earning money aswell as jamie, if we wanted to stay on track with the saving. I spent a whole week in and out of the job centre, being told that there was still no work, not even cleaning. The trouble was that the season was just changing over, so the town became very quiet, very quickly. I really wanted to have a job outside, as i had been stuck inside a shop all winter, and the sun had just started to be making an appearence. I had rung around loads of landscaping companies with no luck, so Jamie suggested he ask his boss, which was a great idea. So the following Monday I started work on a building site. All week I have been climbing up and down scaffolding staining wood. The site itself is in an amazing location with snowcapped mountains in the background. They are all lovely apartment blocks with lovely wooden slatted exterior walls. Ive really enjoyed it and it hasnt felt weird at all as its quite a common thing in nz to have women labourers. I feel really good for it, as its really hands on and nice hard physical work which is very much what i love to do. You feel naked at the end of the day but its a really nice feeling. I never once stood around being bored like its been most days at the shop. All I have to is get my work off the foreman in the morning, stick some tunes on, and get on with it. Nice!
The only annoying thing now is that ive got marks all over my hands and arms by the stain ive been using all week. I look like ive either been dying my hair with the aim to get it all over myself at the same time or ive had a really bad fake tan spray!

Everything else that has happened here in and around wanaka, such as jamies birthday, Skydiving, snowbaording, Going to see an MTV gig up at snow park, My birthday, going out in Queenstown with our lovely friends, Robin and Briony, Ben and Dave, Dressing up in snowboard bags and binliners, getting extremly pissed and going for a pie from the bakery window, and just an alround sense of getting to no ALOT of people and having a great laugh, HAS BEEN SWEET !!!!!!

So there it is, we have now left our jobs, with our goals achieved in the money aspect of things. We have managed to save up a good 3 grand nz, and we will be off work now till after new years (minus maybe a couple of weeks before christmas, already had job offers!) ...YYYAAAYYYYYYY!!!!! we are travellers again!!!!
Its off to mt cook, then Christchurch, then Melbourne for a week to see our austalian friend Mel for her 30th, then we fly back, to experience the South Island as our oyster! After its Christmas and its HELLO JENNY !!!! Welcome back to WANAKA!!!!! I cant wait to see you sis!!!!

SO RAISE YOUR GLASSES AND SHOUT AT THE TOP OF YOUR VOICES " WE LOVE WANAKA !!!!!!"
Love to you all xxxxx
