Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai, the second biggest city in Thailand with just as many temples, but completly different.
It's a very low-key city, far more chilled and less grand in stature than it's bigger brother, but in many cases more pleasant. The old city itself is surrounded by an ancient square wall.
It's a place where you can wile away your days chilling out in a cafe reading a book, or you can visit one ofthe many beautiful temples.....but to be honest weare both sick and tired of temples to be bothered to walk around anymore. That is with the exception of Wat Doi Suthep! A beautiful temple on top of the mountain overlooking the city and valley. The very place that Kim did his meditation course at. The bhuddist architecture here is amazing.
Emily at the base of the Wat Doi Suthep....watch out for the scary dragon!!!
The long climb up to the temple with dragon bodies undulating down the steps!
One the many staues of buddha, this particular being made of of emerald.
All those steps can tire even the most religious.
Not the Doi Suthep, but another temple on the way to Pai. Similar style with the dragons, but this temple was empty with no visitors or monks, so we just went in and had a look araound. Unfortunately didn't get the name.
